The link teacher must have the respect of both the pupils and of the
other members of staff and school community.
Support from the senior management team is critical.
The link teacher must be:
committed to the process and believe in the process
Able to give time to support and advise the school council in every
way
Willing to listen
Prepare to share responsibility with the pupils.
The link teacher should be responsible for:
Organising elections
Training the class
Representatives
Attend meetings
Provide and guidance suport to pupils
Feedback information to the rest of the staff
supporting the pupils to inform the governors and the parents
Raise the profile of the school council
Monitoring and evaluating the process.
